Art news in brief. Artists to paint “Unity”

TEHRAN -- Iranian Muslim artists and artists from the Iranian Christian community and other religious minority groups of Iran are to team up to paint a work entitled “The Unity Tableau” in Tabriz, East Azarbaijan Province on May 18.

The painters, who are all from Iran’s East Azarbaijan and West Azarbaijan provinces, will paint the 12x3-meter work in front of the historic El-Goli edifice in one day.

The event, which has been organized to commemorate Iran’s Year of National Unity and Islamic Solidarity, is being sponsored by the two provincial branches of the Art Bureau, the Tabriz branch of IRIB, and the East Azarbaijan Province Police.

The Iranian calendar year 1386 (began March 21) was declared the Year of National Unity and Islamic Solidarity by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in his New Year message on March 21. ------ICLWA to honor Rumi expert

TEHRAN -- The Iranian Cultural Luminaries and Works Association (ICLWA) plans to pay homage to Mohammad-Ali Movahhed, an expert on the greatest Sufi mystic and poet in the Persian language, Molana Jalal al-Din Rumi, on May 21.

The Iranian scholar has corrected a version of the Divan of Shams and is also the author of several books on civil law.
